Leverage IT

Indian IT story has been one of the most promising tale of how a 1.3 bn head-count nation (with 40% population in BPL) can stand shoulder to shoulder with world's superpower. In India, IT and IT enabled services employ 20 million people and contribute a significant 5.5% to GDP. And all this in span of around 10 years. However, some veterans and renowned technocrats berate the acheivement because they feel that Indian IT Industry is all in command of foreign hands and we have no standing of our own.

Still no matter what, the success of this sector cannot be discounted. However since change is never ending, hence there is an urgent need to churn our minds and find if we have failed to leverage technology and aid India's progress. The penetration of IT in our daily lives is abysmally low - not because of inadequate infrastructure but because there is not enough pressure that would expedite investment in technology.

But, gradually IT is shaping a new image for own-self. Last 1 year has seen wider penetration of internet in our lives. Gone are the days when a person has to sweat-out in long serpentine queues for Train reservations. E-choupal, an ITC effort has been appreciated for bridging the rural-urban gap in agrarian sector. Today, new ideas are pursued and services are improving, most of them being lead by very young but determined individuals.

ninthCAFE is one such Initiative with an aim to associate IT folks and build a larger community.

IT is powerful, Let us leverage this power !
